One week in London
Nowadays, when a lot of Polish people are moving to United Kingdom to work there, we are able to buy airline tickets in very low prices. It is good opportunity to visit London, beautiful, historical city, the capital of country. It is only take couple hours to get there, and it is really worth to be seen, with all those interesting tourist attractions there. No one will be boring there.
Tower Bridge
This majestic building, is one of the signatures of London, everyone at least once saw it in movie or at Internet. It was raised at the end of nineteenth century in Victorian architecture style. It was created in a way that was similar to the Tower Castle nearby – Steel construction with New-Gothic stone elements. Most characteristic about it are to towers connected with platforms for pedestrians, situated forty-four meters above the river. The view from up there is spectacular.
Buckingham Palace
This is another of the most favorites tourist destinations, it is official London residence of English royal family. It was build in late Baroque style at the beginning of eighteenth century, as the home for prince Buckingham, later in 1823, it became home for kings. Big part of this palace are open for visitors to see, you will able to admire inside an elegant interior designs from many periods of time. At the front of building, sculpture of queen Victoria is standing, it was build after her death.
Westminster Abbey
It is the most important church in London, since 1066 it is place, where coronation of king are taking place. Also, since fourteenth century, all member of royal dynasty were buried in here. The most famous parts of it, Two Gothic towers, was build in late eighteenth century. The building like you are able to see now, was renovating and rebuild many times, since 616 year, where the first walls were raised.
Madame Tussauds
It is first, and the most popular on the world gallery of wax sculptures. It was funded in 1835 by Marie Tussauds, and it contains plenty figures, representing people from many areas of life, mostly actors, and singers. It all start with heads of famous, French aristocrats, that were guillotine. You will be able to make a picture there with Marlyn Monroe, Elisabeth Taylor, the Beatles, John Paul the Second, and many many more.
London is very interesting city, filled with spectacular buildings, cultural events, mystic stories, and cosmopolitan atmosphere. It is one of those place, that you must to see in your life, especially when it is so close.
